“What’s in it for me?” Who has not thought that at times? Even the least selfish of us have this in the back of our minds in every action that we take. This is even true of belonging to an organization like the Financial Planning Association. Financial Planners are smart people, (we say in all humility.
) So they certainly would not put time and effort into something unless it helped them in some way to build their businesses. Sure, there are other great side benefits in the social and philanthropic arenas. But the bottom line sometimes must drive our thoughts and actions. So when it comes to affiliating with the FPA perhaps a more succinct question is “what is the advantage of belonging to the group?”
